Can someone please, please explain why they think Poyet would make a decent manager. I mean, nice bloke though he is, and a fine enough player, but what is his managerial capabilities being based on - he has never managed, has he ? He was no. 2 to Wise at Leeds, but who knows how much input he actually had.

Not saying he would necessarily be bad, but I don't kinow hw people can judge him to be good.

South American + Good Manager = FLAIR appointment.

Get him in. Or Paul "shagger" Jewell.

Gus Poyet would be a huge gamble but a very exciting one. He is a character and would get bums on seats. He is a free agent. He is clearly ambitious, keen to enter into management (having been an applicant for the Swansea job when Martinez left for Wigan) and no doubt wants to prove himself as much more than a capable number 2. As assistant with Wise he was believed to be the footballing 'brains' behind the partnership. Wise struggled without him. My only doubt - if he were successful as our manager - is that he would use us as a stepping stone and be off at the first offer from a premiership club.

I think he'd be a cracking choice. I have literally not a shred of evidence to back up why I think this though.

he was also assistant to Ramos at Spurs and is bound to have good links with them and Chelsea and has played under some great managers in his time.

He is part of the new breed of managers coming through - players I grew up watching - I think he the man to gamble on!
