Oh, I thought this was going to be a thread about the venerable Canadian band...

Calling Guess Who venerable kind of sums up how few class bands/musicians come out of Canada :)

Neil Young
Martha and the Muffins
Blood Sweat and Tears
Bare Naked Ladies

Any more ?

How about :-

Alanis Morrisett
Avril Lavigne
Brian Adams
Nickleback
Sum42
Shania Twain
Bachman Turner Overdrive
Rush
Joany Mitchell
The Band
Paul Anka
Guess Who
Jeff Healy
Gordon Lightfoot
Lovin' Spoonful
Anne Murray
Stepenwolf

Yes, just a few ......

Martha and the Muffins ? A bloody one hit wonder and are you sure BST are Canadian ? My Candian cousin doesn't think they are. Only David Clayton Thomas was a Cannuck.

and, err,
Terry Jacks :)eek:)
Andy Kim
Celine Dion

Actually, the Canadian music scene is excellent, IMHO. Just because you don't know many of them doesn't mean they aren't over here. As I've said before, the problem seems to be British musical taste - they mostly import the crap ones. I'd go and see Sloan before most UK acts.

Oh and who could ignore Rita Webb:

Brian Plummer
The Spoons
Naked Eyes
The Band
Rough Trade
The Payolas
The Diodes
Battered Wives
The Demics

(Glad Juan mentioned Tragically Hip and Leonard Cohen)

Incidently, Martha and The Muffins had only one hit in the UK-more in Canada, including the excellent "Black Stations, White Stations"
