Footballer in drink-drive arrest

Chelsea footballer Eidur Gudjohnsen has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving in Surrey.
Police stopped the Icelandic striker in the early hours of Sunday morning on the A3 near Esher.

A spokesman said the 26-year-old's BMW car was stopped because of the way it was being driven. He was breath-tested and arrested.

He was taken to a south London police station and has since been bailed to return at the end of March.

Newspaper reports suggested Gudjohnsen had been out celebrating his winning goal in Chelsea's 1-0 win away at Everton on Saturday.

A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: "At 5.20am on Sunday on the A3 southbound near Esher, officers stopped a car due to the way it was being driven.

"The driver, a 26-year-old man, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol."

Somewhere over there...
Good, f***ing C.UNT! hope Chelsea do the good thing in sacking him like Arsenal are doing to Alliardere(sp) (well there not sacking him but they are refusing to offer him a new contract at the end of the season)

But I don't think Chelsea will do that for some reason

Has everyone already forgotten about Hinsh and his drink driving incident last season???

It's for the police to deal with and I hope Chelsea do what we did with Hinsh last season and freze him out of the first team squad for a while.

I doubt they'll sack him as it probably suits them to retain him. However, they didn't show much sympathy towards Mutu but it has been suggested they wanted to get rid of him anyway.

The difference is that Hinsh was not an established 1st team player and had to accept any punishment the club dished out to an up and coming yopungster to teach him.

Gudjohnsen is a top striker who could, if the situation arose, tell Chelsea to stuff it and his services would be sought by many in a number of countries apart from nearly every team in the premiership.

Apparently he was right on the limit of 35mg. He was near Esher and taken back to Battersea (15 miles) as that was the only station that had the blood testing equipment, what about Guildford? By the time that they got back to Battersea he was nearly ok it is debatable whether or not he will be prosecuted.
