Gordon Greer*has urged Albion to buck the trend of Championship casualties in the Capital One Cup and earn the chance of another glamour tie.
The unbeaten Seagulls sneaked past Southend with a stoppage time goal by Kazenga LuaLua, pictured, in the first round, when a number of Championship clubs fell.
They go to Walsall this evening, another League One side, who have also started the season well and are second in the early table.
Victory over League One high-flyers Swindon last year, followed by a win at Burton, helped Albion secure a trip to Tottenham.
Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Southampton, West Ham and Liverpool – previous visitors in the competition – all enter tonight’s third round draw.
So too do Manchester United and Manchester City, the only big guns yet to visit the Amex.
Skipper Greer, named in the Scotland squad again for next month’s Euro qualifiers against Georgia and Germany, said: “A lot of Championship teams have slipped out of the cup. But for the players and supporters you are looking to keep going and get a big draw at the end of it.
A minute’s silence will also be observed at all of this week’s Capital One Cup ties.
