Anyone else running in the Great South Run on Sunday in Portsmouth?

Running on behalf of Cancer Research as one of the guys I play cricket with (24) has it in his spine after overcoming throat cancer.
Puts losing to Norwich into perspective really. :(

Good luck to anyone else running.

haven't done the run for a few years, since about 95 I think.

Was hoping for about 1hr 20-30 but done my ankle ligaments last night doing my final long run so unless I can get hold of some crutches it will be watching from the sidelines. Won't be wearing the stripes though!

I am absolutely gutted as I broke my ankle in 1988 3 weeks before the London Marathon and the same jinx has struck. It must be akin to being an Albion goalie! :lolol:

Good luck BHA Links for Sunday. What is your number and I will look out for you to give you some encouragement?

I did it in 58 mins 2 years ago. Its a great race, made alot more worthwhile if your doing it for charity.

10 miles innit

still........no chance
If you're fairly fit, than 58 minutes *is* do-able by us mere mortals. When I was 24, I once ran 10k (6.25miles) in 36:53 which is six minute miling.

I will look out for you. I have managed to get hold of some crutches so 10 painful miles now await on Sunday. I have to start in the 3rd wave now so that I don't get in the way!!

I'll be the one finishing about 1.30!! :p

Well guys, I managed to hobble the 10 miles thanks to my local physio who strapped the ankle and lent me some crutches. Also my wife walked round with me to give me encouragement and then realised after 6 miles that she was in the process of doing 10 miles without any training. :shootself

Finished in 3 hours and 3 minutes and wasn't last as there was about 20 people behind me!! :D Would have got under the 3 hours if the guy at the Naval Dockyard gate hadn't have stopped my wife and then radio to control for permission to let her through. Jobsworth!!

Raised nearly £400.00 for Cancer Research in the process but boy do I ache this morning!!

Well done, and for the better half as well. Nice sum of money raised there, hopefully you won't be doing it on crutches next year - and get the missus in training now - she's proven she can walk it, all she has to do now is jog it, and she has 12 months to get ready!

:clap2: :clap2:

Or closer to home. The Worting 20 in March. Used as a good build up for the marathon and one of the last long distance runs before it in the South.

Can I applaud your worthy effort here.

It does lead me to question how a man with so much dedication can get round a 10 mile run on crutches but fails to make it home after most away trips. You must remember you do not live in Havant

Most of the people who actually live in Havant spend a large amount of their waking hours trying to forget that they live there.
