Government asks EU for flood cash. Something not right about this?

I'm not the greatest fan of EU membership at all, but isn't it wrong when we have to ask the EU for a handout....... given the billions we've paid in "membership subs" over the years? Something doesn't quite add up with the maths there.

Might as well. That's what we pay our taxes to.

I can't see anything wrong with it, you need the cash and don't have it in readies - borrowing or cashing in bonds, etc, is more hassle than getting it off the EU. You'll have paid in to said fund since 1973

I expect that after seeing other countries draw from a fund, and imagining that their needs and financial state was no more deserving than Britain's - it may "add up" to a tangible claim.
