Good away pubs in southend ?

Hi one and all,

My first post on nsc so please be gentle ..... lol

Anywayz we are having a day out to southend for a lads beer up and just wondered if anyone could recommend any good albion friendly pubs before the game. So long since we have been to southend on the beer I really cannot remember the good pubs.

There's one right by the ground that does away only.

A bit on the rough side, but ok.

The Golden Lion next to the ground is the away pub, its a dive but thats all there is nearby.

Folk who have been to this fixture before will remember that there is heavy segregation of fans anywhere near roots hall but, as has been mentioned, there are some decent pubs in Southend and Leigh

I went to a decent pub in Southend a few years back - might even have been 1999, as I seem to remember it being the opening day of the season when we went up as Champions. Really hot, sunny day. We were definitely in a garden, but I can't remember what the pub was called.
