Looking after Daughters two Goldfish as she is away in Spain. Goldfish 1 found floating on top of tank and clearly dead (not sleeping) remaining fish swimming frantically around tank looking for its mate! How can I calm it down? and do I get another fish to replace its friend? btw wife blames me for the demise of Goldfish 1 citing the fact that I introduced pond weed to the tank!

My two have been with me for the best part of a century. How have you managed to kill them? have you been pissing in their bowl?

Oops, just buy another one and casually state that it had changed colour, on the same subject the wife was looking after my son's girlfriends hamster which croaked 3-days in and she spent the next 7-days fretting

Change the water, well at least 50% of it now, do the rest tomorrow, the ammonia levels could be building up and causing stress if the tank doesn't have filtration. Which, if its a goldfish tank I presume it doesn't. Plus goldfish are eating and shitting machines of the fish world. They need a good maintenance schedule.

I've just started a tropiclal tank and have been doing a lot of reading, goldfish do actually get quite large and should ideally be in at least a 10 gallon tank.

That really helped:rolleyes: Thinking of going up to Plymouth this month, fancy a pint?

Hello mate, not been yet, keep being badgered to go and will soon enough. I will let you know when. I will deffo go to the Exeter game though thats always fun. I must admit that although I find it difficult to get excited, the Argyle fans are great and its worth going just for the fansfest.
Do you still go to the Watering Hole, it must be the best pub in the UK.
Oh and by the way, Re the fish, sue SW Water I would at any opportunity the thieving b******s

Good advice to change 50% of water and replace with water that has been treated. Do that a few times a few days apart. Feed less rather than more. ANd I think a new one is a good idea, although it will not fool her that it is the same one!
