I think their away end holds around 8000, and as even our legendary away support doesn't quite amount to that much, how about taking the flag to cover some of the empty seats...

A fine idea, Does anyone want to volunteer to collect it from Withdean?

I would be happy to help with it at Hillsborough.

If anyone can do it let me know and I or Downloaded Penguin can get in touch with Wednesday regarding getting permission to take it in.

At least it should stay dry as we're under cover at Hillsborough.

Thus avoiding the damp problem.

Maybe Coxy and Litres could manage it. I'm not sure if the Sunshine bus is going.

Just thought it would be useful for covering the thousands of empty seats, if my recollection of Hillsborough is anything to go by.

It might help to counter the chants of "Is that all you take away?" at least. "Yes, but have you seen our flag?"

Won't do a thing about the "Does your boyfriend know....etc" from our macho northern friends of course, but i'm sure people already have their witty responses prepared for that....

I'm going to try and pick it up on Friday late afternoon, the only thing is I can't be sure of getting there, I guess if I do, then it goes, judging by the response if I don't, then it don't go.

Has Downloaded Pengiun got permission from Hillsborough.

If I do get it then I'm going to need help with it, both when I get there, and when the match ends, can I be assured of some assistance? Cos me and the delicate Superwife just ain't tough enough to lug that thing about.

Well CTS, if I get it there I'm sure I can get enough enthusiasm from fans at the ground to help get it in there, in the past it's been a pain at the end getting it out at the end. So even if I don't see you before, please come over give us a hand at the end of the game.

Thanks

"Heartbeat
It's just like watching Heartbeat
It's just like watching Heartbeat"

(not the Tony Hart version)

And (in response to the shed taunts at Withdean, to the tune of When the Saints Go Marching In)

"My garden shed (my garden shed)
Cost more than your house (cost more than your house)
My garden shed cost more than your house.
It cost me six-ty quid in Homebase
My garden shed cost more than your house".

Sing the Chip Butty song

Blades sing it to them and it winds them up

Hmmm, something about Magnet (what's that??) and Woodbines if I recall?

You light up my senses
Like a packet of woodbines
Like a gallon of Magnet
Like a good pinch of snuff
Like a night out in Sheffield
Like a greasy chip butty
Oh Sheffield United
Come thrill me again.

Or something like that? Probably totally in the wrong order....

The Brighton version

"You light up my senses
Like a missed pass from Jonesy
Like "let's 'ave a winner"
Like a Roberts skied punch
Like a Knight left foot rocket
Like a silky Guy Butters
Oh Brighton & Hove Albion
Come thrill me again"
