As some of you may know, I am a committed Appleophile and have numerous iGadgets.

However, I am looking to get a Windows (shudder) laptop specifically for gaming. (Even more specifically for Football Manager Live gaming).

I know Dell do good deals, and have looked at other high end gaming laptops, but I want people's suggestions for good performance laptops at reasonable prices. (Under £800 if possible.)

I got a Dell for just under a grand, but that was nearly 2 years ago. It has been very good for playing games, as long as you don't expect to play top end games on high settings.
The graphics card has just died and Dell let me extend my warranty nearly a year after it expired, still waiting for it to be fixed though (graphics card out of stock) :(

What I will say is if you are think about buying an Acer be mindful that there customer service is utter shite. Took them about 5 months to fix my previous laptop under warranty.

Can get some powerful sony Vaios for around that price..

Am considering a Viao. Jammy friend got a free one with his new mobile contract, they stopped doing Vaios on that recently though and only rubbish lappys on there now.

I've not played Football Manager Live, does it require a graphics card to run?
If so thats what will probably cost the money, a machine with good graphics card.

Yes. I'm basically looking for what is the best price for a lappy with good graphics card and good processor speed. FMLive needs a reasonable graphics card, a lot going on onscreen at all times. Looks like Sky Sports News.

Alienware and by association Dell i think are the main ones. theres no "good performance at resonable price" in laptop land and even less so for gaming. It depends what sort of games you play if its FPS then they are a bit crap but strategy games and the likes of FM dont need a great graphics card. if thats your interest you just want decent performance and the "gaming" part is neither here nor there.

I got myself a Sony VIAO VGN-FW21E in September, the best laptop ive ever had, 4gb memory, 320gb hard drive, decent processor and blue ray. Cost £800 but well worth it

That sounds about right to me. Thanks Bruno Mend(oza)y.

did you have a PS2 before you had the shit60?

I don't know what a shit60 is, but yes I had a PS2.

Xbox is owning PS3 is almost every way. Graphics are just as good, far better price, better online facilities, better games line up. Not fussed about Blu Ray as have perfectly good DVD collection.
