game off in youth football

My son youth game called off! by council:eek: what chance if kids can't play this weekend! How can football develope in this country if the pitches are in this kind of state:angry: Winter break for park football? sharing with cricket clubs makes this difficult i know, training facilities limited had to take a hove based team up to hassocks just to find 3g available,it aint good for the future.

sunday footie

The state of local facilities in the area are a discrace .pitches are either mud baths or concrete dust bowls.I think the council and local education authority should get together and provide a floodlite 3G pitch at every secondry school in brighton and hove then schools could make money from renting out in evenings and weekends would solve alot of problems in school and local youth football.Well done to Blatch mill for leading the way with Two full size pitches and lighting.

Agreed, but it's easier said than done. Dorothy Stringer wanted to put in two 3G flood-lit pitches but were stymied by local residents.

I've not heard of any of our games being postponed this weekend yet and the forecast is looking to be very good from now til Monday so it's a real shame when games are called off when all the kids want to do is play after the long Xmas break and the weather is meant to be nice.

Please please tell me this wasn't due to "light pollution" otherwise I am going to literally explode at my keyboard. I am more than a little frustrated at the cancellation of Sunday football this week ! However given my sporting calendar for Saturday, I guess I shouldn't complain too much.

Refing 2 games of kids basketball U11 then U16

followed by watching

FAC3 at Withdean
then Worthing Thunder for more Basketball

if this is true adur havent a clue, they shouldnt call off ALL games unless they have viewed all the pitches, sompting wreck is superb at draining,if fact most games that were called off before xmas, the manager carried on playing,he wouldnt put the boys at risk, but surely it should be down to the managers, and the forecast tom and sunday is sunny, infact as i look out my window its nearly short weather!!!!!!!!!!

It rained heavily all day yesterday, what do you expect? They're park pitches, not the Emirates Stadium. If they get churned up this weekend from you cloggers running around then there's a chance they'll be ruined for weeks to come :p

As my mother once unforgettably said to me- while I was listening, despairingly,to SCR as Kerry Mayo scored that OG at Hereford:facepalm: - Oh well! It's only a game!

It was all a long time ago (12 years or so), but from memory ..... yes, I do remember 'light pollution' was one of the major complaints! That and 'disturbance' (which of course you never get from a school).

Thats my point! Park pitches! Mid winter! Lack of technical ability in english players, are they linked, the problem is pitches played into oblivion and not enough 3g pitches:angry:

Park pitches have always been a little ropey, but at least you knew they were played on regularly, never the slick passing game enjoyed on the Emirates granted but used and enjoyed.

The pitches havent been used for a few weeks after a generally cold but dry spell.

I bet the pitches are playable but I cannot help thinking that the sub contractor would rather not do much work next week to fork a few muddy patches.

The rain was heavy yesterday and this morning but if we have dry weather until Sunday, the pitches will be in good nick for the kids to enjoy their football this weekend.
