Chris Wood celebrates one of his two goals for Millwall at The Amex earlier this season
Chris Wood and David Nugent will be asked to fire Leicester back into the top six at The Amex today – despite a recent goal drought.
Wood, the former Albion loanee who has already netted three times against them for Millwall this term, has gone quiet after an explosive start to his Leicester career.
He scored two goals on his debut against Huddersfield, added a hat-trick against Bristol City and had nine in nine as City looked well placed to take automatic promotion.
Wood has 18 league goals this season for Millwall and City combined but has failed to score in any of his last seven matches.
Meanwhile Leicester’s top scorer Nugent, who has 14 in the league this season, has not netted for ten matches.
Despite their recent barren run, the front pair look sure to be at the sharp end of a 4-4-2 City set-up this afternoon.
Anthony Knockaert is one to watch. The left-footed Frenchman starts on the right and loves to drift infield to create danger.
Keep an eye too on City’s full-backs, who have orders to provide attacking width.
Wes Morgan’s return from a one-match ban is great news for Nigel Pearson’s men, who badly missed his leadership from central defence when they lost 2-0 at Barnsley on Monday.
The one bright spot of that defeat was a third penalty save of the season by Kasper Schmeichel, who will provide a big barrier to Albion’s would-be goal-getters today.
