Lancashire v Surrey : (Frizzell County Championship - Division One) from Old Trafford

Surrey are leading by 133 runs.

Lancashire 341 all out

Surrey 337 all out 137 - 8

Hopefully the rain holds off and Lancs can power to victory leaving Sussex in a very strong position indeed in the title race!!!

I rather fancy a draw myself. Makes sure that Lancashire aren't too interested by the time we play them.

The Guardian this morning thinks that Andy Strauss from Middlesex might be called up for the England squad (just in time to miss the Sussex game) and that Rikki Clarke is in line for a call-up. Please let this happen.

And Martin Bicknell's stil injured.

Nah, prefer a Lancs win. As you pointed out yesterday Gwylan, Surrey would only have a one point lead, and Lancs would still be 33 points behind us. If Lancs were 'interested', we would have a better chance of beating them, I reckon.

Having said that, I would take a draw; anything but a Surrey win.

The Times hint's that Graham Thorpe could be recalled for the last Test along with Rikki Clarke. Bicknell and Ramprakash are both injured.

I still want Lancs to win, as realistically I can't see them overtaking us, and this would put a massive dent in Surrey's title aspirations.

What about Kirtley? Any chance that England might leave him out??

Can't see it, but it would help our cause.

I'm easy about a draw or a Lancs win. I just thought that if they were out of it, they might start playing a few youngsters to give them some experience.

That's some injury list Surrey have. Please let Clarke and/or Thorpe be picked. They're going to have a tough game against Kent - I can't see them winning it (that's another reason why i'd fancy a Lancs/Surrey draw).

There's a chance that we'd have Kirtley back, but that would be too good to be true

How about starting a "Leave Kirtley out of England 'cos he's useless (for the time being)" type of thread?

As long as Surrey don't win, I'm not too bothered which way it goes.

Sussex are gonna be champions anyway

To Brixtaan - yep, on the last ball of the game with only 1 wicket left I believe.

Its bizarre how you can be so good at the 4 day game and so bad at the 1 day game. However, now they are resting a few people and bringing others in as there isn't much point in playing people like Mushy in the one dayers in case he gets injured for the 4 dayers.

Would like to see Surrey thrashed. They are such an arrogant lot. Bit like Man U. Wonder if weather will play a part in deciding the Championship. We have 12 important days of cricket but will we get them?
