Sorry to hear about your dad. A tough time and a horrible thing to deal with.

I know you said you're not after sympathy but only the most stone hearted wouldn't want to at least say "shit mate, that's rubbish, hope you can deal with it as best as possible".

A few beers is probably the best plan in the short term. Cheers to the old man. I'm raising a beer to all those we've lost right now.

My dear old dad died a week ago, and I’ve spent a fairly stressful day trying to get ‘arrangements‘ in place (try booking a wake, after a noon cremation, 2 weeks before Christmas..........) and keeping mum on an even keel. I don’t really like ale or brandy, but I’m going to have a bit of both tonight in his memory, after I’ve had a bit of cava with my dinner.

Glass of Champagne, bottle of “Domain BARAT” Chablis with the Frau and a glass of “ st joseph francais neelin” red. But then I’m in France.

Can’t say I know anything about wine but all were enjoyable especially the red.
