Bordeaux's hopes of promotion from Ligue 2 are in doubt after their final match of the season was abandoned after a Rodez player was attacked by a fan.

Midfielder Lucas Buades was pushed over by a pitch-invader as he celebrated giving Rodez a 22nd-minute lead.

He was taken off on a stretcher and the referee abandoned the game, saying Buades had suffered a concussion."

Disgusting scenes

France, Germany, Italy and others have been far worse than English football for violence and these sorts of incidents for many years now. If this was us we’d have been vilified in the press.
I disagree. There have been cases of players and managers being attacked and the press response us always been proportionate.

Undoubtably European football has a problem. But then so do we. And society everywhere. When you see the c***ish behaviour of Morinho the other night however, is it any wonder this sort of thing happens? If a fan twatted him in the face and knocked him out cold, it would be the most delicious karma ever! Horrible, charmless man.

Crowd trouble too though - far more in those countries and press not all over it like the English. Germany, for example, is far far worse which is really unbelievable.

What actually happened? managed to see one camera phone recording of the incident but couldn't make out why he fell over seemingly seconds after just being pushed? Looks like he collapsed!? God knows what the fan was thinking though - incredible to think he's likely cost his team promotion.

As others have said - violence is far more rife on the continent these days both in domestic leagues and in European games.

I think we can guarantee at least one Europa league away game is going to be carnage and possibly a home game depending on who we draw.

Awful reaction from the Bordeaux fan, but Oh my......the resulting concussion etc etc looks absolute bollocks.

I know a lot of people liked Maupays shithousery (.?sp ), but I never did. What happened in Bordeaux can result in that sort of incident.

You're an undertaker, Harry.
Saved me doing it

Not exactly a full on assault is it? Yellow at best on the field. The fan shouldn't have been on there, of course, but concussion?
