I'll wager it is quite rare for a player to win an award like that without getting his clubs player of the season award.

Wasn't exactly the best player in the division though.

Agreed he scored the most goals including 9 penalties but that is his job.

There were a lot more players who would feel entitled to the award other than Leon.

By scoring the most goals he had the highest profile to others.

The Albion fans realised that there were other efforts made in the team. It also reflected Leon's attitude at times which 'outsiders' wouldn't necessarily have know.
