not sure if already posted. sorry if it has

Nicky Forster wants a fourth goalscoring season with Albion, as he bids to knock Torquay out of the FA Cup again in the third round at Plainmoor today.

Forster, 36, heads a list of nine senior players who will be out of contract in the summer.

Albion have yet to open talks with any of them but the 13-goal club captain, poised to finish leading marksman for the third year running, would prefer to continue his career with the Seagulls.

Forster, on target twice in the second round victory at Torquay in 2007, said: “I am happy with my tally of goals this season and if I can keep that going and hit that 20-mark by the end of the season, which I have given myself a good chance of doing now, then I’ll be delighted.

“I’m up at the end of the season contract wise as well so I don’t know where I shall be. It’s also a good advert for me if I am not wanted here.

“The club, I think it is fair to say, leave contract negotiations fairly late. As of this moment in time, nothing has been said to any of the players as far as I am aware.

“I, like others, have got to look to my future and see what I am going to do. With my age I am not 100% sure what I am going to do, whether I will retire or look for another club.

“But at the moment I am enjoying football and enjoying scoring so I think I have still got something to offer playing wise. My intention at the moment is to keep playing.

“Nothing has been spoken about here so at some stage I am going to have to look and see what my options are.

“I want to stay. I enjoy the club, I like it here but I am no different to anyone else. I have a family to support and I need to be earning.”

Albion also have to decisions to make by the end of the season about the futures of long-serving duo Michel Kuipers and Gary Hart, plus Adam El-Abd, Dean Cox, Adam Virgo, Kevin McLeod, Colin Hawkins and David Livermore.

depends on how much he wants as against what we have to pay to get someone as good. he is getting on and that has to be reflected in his terms - no favours, but I hope he signs a new deal

I hope he stays. I enjoy watching him play, he's exciting on the ball.

Get that man a contract! He's the only player on that list (cannot believe I'm saying this but bar El-Abd if he keeps his recent form up!) I would be upset to see leave this summer.

EDIT: I'd be upset to see FDM and OGH but purely for sentimental reasons.

As good as another 20 goals a year player ? Lots i'd suggest..

As he says, the club always do contract negotiations late, and we'd be very disapointingly poor again, to let him go.

yep I know, but when to offload players is a skill. He will be another year older, and will he get 20 goals next year? Not my decision to make, that is why we pay Poyet. Having said that we got rid of Case for getting on a bit and he was then fabulous for the saints. But head must always rule the heart, that is all

It's a gamble, but I'd give him 2 years.

If Claridge & Sheringham can knock in goals til their 40 then so can Fozzie!
Totally agree. He's been as fit as any of them this year. I hope he stays on with us after he's finished playing as well.

Agree, he has definitely got a couple of years in him - if he can stay clear of any niggling injuries because his fitness is top notch for a 36 year old. And 13 goals by New Year is good by anyone's standards.

as long as he isnt on silly money (relative to league and age), it would be stupid to let him go. even if he was only getting half the games available he'd still be good for 10-15 goals a season and invaluable experience in training for younger strikers. sign him for 2 with an option for a third i reckon.

His goals are priceless, would prob take years to get someone in as good. Will miss him when he's gone.

Sign him up

.

I'd rather hoped this particular Mickey Mouse way of dealing with players contracts would have changed with the change of Chairman, especially those who are a real asset to the club.

in seriousness i'd say give him 2 years but with the stipulation he should do all his coaching badges in season one and then maybe only stay on as a coach in year 2 if he is 'past it'

why all this "make him a coach". Because you can play it doesnt mean you can spot a player or teach, or coach. Clough is the exception rather than the rule of great players who weere great managers. Furguson, Wenger, Paisley and Shankly, none of them world beaters as players, but coaches / managers, oh yes. Also we have to draw a line, players are paid to play, thats it, so its goodbye after that, unless he can show he can be a good coach, but which coach will he replace as we cant have every popular player joining the coaching staff?

Forster is no world beater either...
