Me at the mo like Win 2000 but I am trying out XP again for some reason.
Maybe cos I is a geek and like messing with puters!!
Can I have my avatar back please?
Linux yes. Macs are for girls and coke-sniffing arty types who value design over substance. Any old Univac/IBM operators/programmers remember OS3? Or ICL's George?
I am very much liking the Windows XP Pro. That said, I have an even geekier friend (who does such things for a living) that swore by 98 SP2 for years until XP came along.
Whatever you do, don't touch Windows ME. Anybody (and there are plenty) with the misfortune to be running that pile of shite should be entitled to a free XP upgrade under the Trade Description Act.
95 was cack, 98 first edition weas also pretty poor. 98 second edition is alright (except it doesn't default to TCP/IP protocol thereby making networking a nightmare). XP looks the mutts nutts and I have just installed .Net Enterprise architect on that one. When I start developing using that, I reckon it'll be XP for me especially as the security floors are being ironed out.
If you want a big boy's operating sytem, Linux is where it's at.
I have Red Hat Linux at home and XP in the office.
Blatant plug: Any techies out there who want to have a look at a comparative guide between Linux and Windows should have a look at http://www.techworld.com/ and download the PDF. It's for serious users though.
XP for me, barely ever crashes and had only 1 major crash since I've had it (18months now).
As long as it works fine then its OK with me and mine works fine so its OK with me
Ahh you're a journalist! Arty and creative types are forgiven! It's us beer-drinking, burger-eating systems programmers with no social life and poor personal hygenie who hate Macs (unless their Big with fries and a strawberry shake)
