I was thinking a while back, reiterated by seeing the Falmer site in the sunshine yesterday, that (sssssh, don't tell the village residents) our new stadium is going to be in one of the more pleasant locations as football arenas go.
Ignoring the A27, hidden by trees anyway, if you look across from the Downs, you have views across to Stanmer Park and Ditchling Beacon on one side, from another side Falmer and the pond, and to the south nothing but rolling downland, albeit temporarily dumped full of excavated chalk. The photos people have taken so far from further afield are even more impressive.
So...can anyone think of any stadiums that are actually in nice locations? Most old grounds in the UK are in city centres, surrounded by terraced housing. Most new ones are on nasty brownfield ex-industrial sites (Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Southampton) or ugly grey retail parks (Northampton, MK Dons). What about abroad?
Feel free to post photos of gloriously sited grounds in the Swiss Alps or Scottish Highlands
