Bit of a long shot, but I remember someone on here posting about playing Football Manager in Network mode with mates, as I was looking for an online alternative to FML, which is a bit disappointing IMO.

So....what I'm asking is how does it work?
Do you have to wait for all of you to have completed a days' business before you can move on to the next?

i played network games all the time at uni with 2 or 3 of my mates.
2 of em were housemates so we just played over LAN, so didnt need to do much to set it up, 1 plays as the server and is assigned an IP, which other people then type in under the network games tab and voila, your in.

its recommended the person who has the best computer runs the game, and that they save every week, as if it crashes, nobody else can back it up. it runs in the way that once 2/3rds of the people have hit continue, there is a 30 second timer (or more if u want) before it automatically continues. it takes a lot longer than a single player game, but is much more rewarding, and the banter is class.

if u want to play online, you may have to use hamachi, but try the above and if it works your golden

p.s. in fm 2008 you couldnt play network games if you differing platforms (e.g. my spare mac laptop cudnt be used as it ran the mac version of the game) im not sure if this has been changed yet. in the 2009 version they fixed it so you could play over a wireless network far more easily too, havent tried this years version as i finished uni so only play single players games

Sounds good, thanks for the info. It'll be three of us playing, and we all live in different places, so we may need Himachi?

try it without, its quite a fairly simple process to do. whoever wants to host the game just needs to start up a new game with whatever leagues your planning on using. once the game is created and he has added himself, you need to open up preferences and go to network. once there, click run as server. you should find maybe 1 or 2 ip addresses. give that to everybody else playing. these people then need to load up their fm games and click on the bottom button 'Join network game'

once there, click on the bottom right hand button that reads 'Join other server' this is where you enter the ip you have been given.

if this doesnt work, i would try using Hamachi, although im not very good at hamachi, iv done it before (through trial and error) but you will definitely be able to get it working one way or the other.

give me a pm if you have any other questions/problems and ill try to help

p.s. you MUST be running the SAME version of FM to be able to join the game (e.g. if the host is running fm 10.2 and you have 10.0, you need to update to version 10.2)

its also worth noting that the transfer window is ending in a week, which means version 10.3 should theopretically come out near that date too with the relevant transfer updates and bug fixes. it would be best to wait until then and update all of your games xx
