Football is a winter game!

I know it is luverly going to games in the sun at the beginning and end of a season, but am I the only one who thinks that early August starts are shite?

The heat on Saturday (admittedly, a freakish heatwave was involved) played as much a part in ruining the game as a serious competitive match as the ref did. No-one could serious chase the ball around the pitch, tired legs mislaid passes, and so on.

Roll on Autumn.

I like the novelty of a hot sunny day, but it should remain just that, a novelty.

Football is all about the wet and windy days, and on no account should anyone be taken seriously when they suggest football switching to become a summer game.

How miserable would January be if there was no football !!!

I don't like August games, before i became a season ticket holder I often wouldn't go to the earliest games. It's still the cricket season.

The 9 August is way too early a time to start playing.

I'd be much happier with the first weekend being the bank holiday weekend, end at the same time, with a few more evening games - better atmosphere.

Even with a season ticket, I struggle to get to the first few home games.

The season should start after the bank holiday when all the families are back from their holidays.

Totally agree. Football and sun don't mix. I also have to put up with my girlfriend whose birthday is August 10th. This pretty much means I've lost the first game of the season as it is. Bring on Autumn!

Totally agree. The season should start at the end of August and finish early May as it does now ... so we'd need a few more midweek games to make up for the shorter season.
