Captain David Beckham is an injury worry for England's World Cup qualifier with Poland on Wednesday after leaving training early on Monday.

The Real Madrid midfielder suffered a rib injury in the draw with Austria and is undergoing a medical assessment.

Steven Gerrard also sat out part of the training session but an FA spokesman said it was a precautionary measure.

But Chelsea's Wayne Bridge was fully involved in training, despite taking a knock to his Achilles against Austria.

England are flying to Poland on Monday afternoon, with the first training session planned for Tuesday afternoon.

Beckham will be assessed again on Tuesday morning before a decision is taken on whether he can resume training.

Anybody else hoping that he doesn't make it so Wright-Phillips gets a game?

it must be me!

I actually thought in the first half, beckham looked the best player on the pitch......he only really faded in the second half. I take it that was because his lack of match practice ( haven't Real only played one game this year?)

Its always the same with England. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE watching Wright Phillips play, he is so exciting...HOWEVER, there's always this flavour of the month and the general public are clamouring for him to get in the team. Kevin Phillips upfront anyone?

Yeah, but Wright Phillips has performed for England, is a better natural talent than Littke Kev (who I never wanted near the England side) and is all round amazing.

I'll be more than happy to have Wright-Phillips playing instead of Beckham. Wright-Phillips is a player who makes football worth watching. Having watched Poland on the box a t the weekend I reckon someone of Wright-Phillips' quality and pace would make mincemeat of their full-backs - I'd fancy SWP to score after taking a few players on.

Run at 'em Shauny!!!
