Figs

I just discovered a small box of the little fellas in the kitchen at work. Along with a box of dates they are nearly all that remains of the weekly fruit stock.

They are great.

Figs are the new olives, IMHO.

But others disagree - God Hates Figs apparently.

So, I put it to you - figs...

We have a fig tree in our garden.

They are pretty nice, especially when they get really ripe and squashy.

Got a few Fig trees in my Cul-De-Sac (named the Herb Estate due to an old Greenhouse place that used to be there). Think I've eaten one in my lifetime!

A fresh ripe fig with juicy red flesh, picked from a fig tree growing in a hot climate and eaten immediately, is the finest fruit known to mankind.

Sticky brown dried figs, bought from English supermarkets, are but a distant cousin of the real thing. I quite like them, but understand why some people don't.
