Define 'recent'

Edit: would like to point out the poll wasn't here when I posted this!

Eddie Irvine raced under an Irish race licence. If you're taking those who did that with UK origins I'll go for Ralph Firman, just for being the epitome of a trier. Took him 6 seasons floating around lower classes between first being tipped to get an F1 seat until he got one and apparently he still holds out hope of getting back in. Pity about the 'scoring only 1 point' thing...

I loved Mansell as a kid, him and Senna were brilliant to watch. I'm mightily impressed by Hamilton and the fact that he's managed to make F1 exciting again. Can't help but like Button aswell. so, erm, dunno. I guess I'll go Mansell.

Mansell, for his balls-out, never say die attitude. He had his faults (paranoid, whinger etc), but he was up against and beat some of the best (Senna, Prost, Piquet etc).
