Because Father's Day is a ridiculous attempt by an increasing number of desperate retailers to squeeze money out of kids, who ought to be brought up better. And the London to Brighton Bike Ride is a healthy day out, with lots of exercise for the participants and loads of money raised for a good cause.

And don't forget that Mothers' Day is another 20th century American construction too, not to be confused with the older Mothering Sunday.

£35 for 2 adults 2 kids, castle and cricket all included, and I'm not paying. Not a bad deal.

That's really good. It's £40 for two adults and two kids just to watch the cricket at Hove. If I'd known that I'd have been angling for a day at the cricket

That's a great deal, from memory it's a lot more than that just for the castle.
