In relation to earlier threads and support from fellow NSCers, have begun testing the water ... fantastic response from Donny for this already. Guess it all depends on none of us reaching round 4 of the FA Cup!!! Nearer the time will need to contact every club which is not in 4th Round.

Taste of early response from Donny:

We are planning a large Fans United Day for your return fixture with Wrexham on 29 Jan 2005.
I know it is still quite a long way off, and it depends on all three clubs being knocked out the FA Cup by the 4th Round (in our case an odds on certainty!), but thought we should count you guys in early.
We are planning to bring coaches up from Brighton (some organisers are already predicting about 300 plus coming) and also trying to involve other clubs who won’t have a game that day.
Things may have changed a bit at Wrexham by then – we all hope so – but if not we hope it will give a boost to their campaign and draw more national attention.
As for Donny and Brighton, we have both been there and we know what it must be like for Wrexham – my feeling on Saturday is there were a lot of disheartened supporters who are seeing very little light at the end of the tunnel.
Let us know what you all think ...

If we get enough publicty about it going i should imagine there will be nearing on 2,000 donny fans making the trip down. Its good to start planning early, get the posters/banners ready etc and we can make a real day of it.

I'll be going to not only support Rovers, but to voice my support for those at Wrexham who want to stop the heart and soul being ripped out of their club.

An excellent idea, looking forward to it already

Time to reclaim football as a game for the people not money grabbers

Sounds great, the more publicity this gets, all the better for football. Even if Wrexham fans are on the way to getting a deal sorted out to stay at the Racecourse I doubt it would be sealed, and that chairman of theirs seems all too slimily familiar so the pressure needs to be sustained.

Will there be any MK Dons fans coming?

I advise anyone who is jaded with the game to get back to what its all about and go show some solidarity while having a giggle.

Great stuff. We can only properly organise it in the second week of January, but if we sow the seeds now in order that all we need to know is whether Brighton have a game on Jan 29. Then we just need to get enough 'intend to' people coming, and this could be large.

Point of order: if Brighton are in the Fourth Round, could we ask the FA / Football League, whoever we are playing, to move our game to Sunday January 30 anyway?

I'm well up for that if a) we're out of the cup b) there's coaches going.

This was discussed at the Labour Party Conference fringe meeting. Mark McGhee's preference was for the Albion to get through to the Fourth Round of the Cup and draw Wrexham.

Would spoil the day for Donny fans, though, who would no doubt have to travel down to Highbury for their tie against Arsenal.

:)

Especially useful if we have drawn either Liverpool at Anfield or Man Utd at Old Trafford!!!!

On a serious note: If we sound out people now, we can maximise the number who can attend.
We should also keep a close watch on rounds 1 and 2 of the FA Cup to see how Donny and Wrexham progress .... and then we can wait for the inevitable home defeat of the Albion to Little Puddling in the Marsh Over 45 XI in the 3rd Round!!!!

ideal scenario would be for us to have our third round game away to one of the clubs with 35K+ like arsenal/spurs/chelsea/newcastle/liverpool/man utd/man city/everton to bring in some revenue and to then be knocked out

I'd forgotten how overgrown and delapidated the old east terraces had become - you can see the weeds even in this picture.
Very sad, sad day .... but our bond with Donny was established forever that day.
