agree with cheeky monkey on this one.
with a 22,000 capacity we will never compete
properly in the premiership,it needs to be at least 32,000
just to tread water, sorry but 22,000 is just not big enough.
hopefully the stadium will have the ability to let us increase it
when things improve.

22,000 is a start. If things pan out well, I wouldn't be surprised to see the ground capacity increased in the future. I know all the bluster about it being fixed but once the locals see the financial benefits of having a state of the art stadium on their doorstep, the objections to increasing capacity will be minimal. You can't compete at a high level with a 22,000 capacity stadium. Even smaller Premiership clubs like Bolton and Charlton have 26-27k stadiums, and Charlton haven't finished building...

I'm more concerned about the requirement for games being all ticket. There are plenty of people who simply won't bother going if they can't buy a ticket on the gate. I'm not talking about Albion fans, I'm talking about fans of football in general who happen to live in the area.

New stadium should definitely have an Albion Hall of Fame, to feature people who have made a significant contribution to the club's history. Kind of a museum, it would be a significant local point of interest, and could be a useful little revenue stream on non-match days.

It should feature people like Peter Ward, Brian Horton, Mark Lawrenson, Bobby Zamora, Charlie Webb, John Jackson (I think), Steve Foster, Alan Mullery, Micky Adams, Robbie Reinelt of course, and I'm sure plenty of others. Fans could vote new faces in annually, to be ceremonially inducted by the club as they do with the Baseball and Golf Halls of Fame in the USA.

Plus maybe a small Hall of Shame/Chamber of Horrors section, to include Archer, Bellotti, Farrington, Tiltman, Barry Hearn, Phil Prosser, Ron Challis, Tommy Johnson, Scott McGleish and everyone else who has ever pissed us off over the years :lolol:

You certainly know your history Edna! I can only relly add Tommy Cook and perhaps Billy Lane to that list, maybe an honourable mention for Pat Saward. (I assume by 'John Jackson' you mean the man who first bought professional football to Brighton - not the former Palace keeper who was a disaster as our Youth Coach).

Bars with Harveys would be a good start.

Ticketing should be possible on the cinema model, surely? The only problem is with the travel voucher part - as I found out when collecting my ticket for the Boston game. It's difficult to use the travel voucher for the train journey to the ground when it's waiting for you there! Thankfully, the guy's collecting the tickets at Preston Park were fairly relaxed about it, but I'm not sure what would have happened if I'd been going by bus, as I've had difficulty in the past even with a ticket!

A true home - nothing more nothing less.

And at the first league game I think we should arrive early and have a picnic outside - chilled Champagne, Stella whatever but savour the glorious day !
