Falmer Revamp 2

Why didn't the club inform the fans about this instead of letting the Arsegas break the story?

As much as Falmer For All and the club have worked to get the stadium, we fans have all done our bit too and it's now looking like the dream is dying-unless the club tell us otherwise...Norman Baker is already twisting some of the content while the club's silence is deafening.

The club broke this 'news' at the Falmer forum in February - the only "revelation" is the £10m increase, although the club has always said costs will rise above the £50m estimate in 2002 (that's down to inflation).

However, we have never been keen on releasing exact figures, as this type of commercially sensitive information into the public domain - particularly at a time when the club is in negotiations with potential contractors and commercial partners.

I would be interested to know how The Argus justify their "50% bigger" headline, particularly as the capacity, footprint and height have not changed from the original plans!

Also regular readers of the programme and website will have seen all the new imagery (it's even been in the Argus), and will be aware that the overall look and impact of the stadium remains as per the original plans - but interestingly the Argus chose not to print an exclusive image released to them late last night, which shows the site.

It is not a shock revamp - regular readers of Martin Perry's blog will be 100% aware of the "house-keeping" application.
