The Cutress family who own the Forfars bakeries throughout Sussex are key lobbyists for the people of Falmer - the NIMBYS- against the stadium.

The Argus today carries a picture of Melanie Cutress (wife of MD Tim Cutress) who says "we cannot say for sure the village has been saved but we have won round one. Prescott has turned down Falmer (err, no actually) that is the position at the moment. We don't know what the future holds but this is great for us. The whole village has been opposed to this stadium and have fought it vigorously"

Tim Cutress claims to be an Albion fan and attends games (he might even hold a season ticket I believe) yet for NIMBY reasons is totally opposed to the development of Falmer Stadium.

I would imagine with the number of Forfars bakeries in and around Brighton, Albion fans must spend a considerable amount of money with them as they are a good quality bakery. I think we need to make a stand against the NIMBYS and boycott Forfars to make them see how much this means to us. Lets hit them in the pocket.

I mooted this idea some years ago. Ok, maybe I had a personal agenda after Mrs Cutress threatened to tear my head off at a fans forum because of a derogatory fanzine article I'd written re Falmer Village! A few flying pickets handing leaflets outside Forfars many outlets in the Brighton and Hove area would hopefully put a dent in Timothy's pocket!

Right, that's easily enough done - their greasy, mucky grub is rank anyway. No more granny food from Forfars!

Wouldn't it just be awful if every single Forfars shop started getting covered in Falmer for All stickers? :glare:

I see where you're coming from Gunter. But I'm going to argue against this.

And I'll come clean right from the start. I have known Tim Cutress for thirty years and would consider him to be a mate. I used to work with a band he led.

He is a genuine Albion supporter and has been for longer than I have. A season ticket holder, he travels regularly to away matches.

Melanie Cutress, former Chairman of Falmer Parish Council, is the leading campaigner. Tim's position in the campaign is a relatively low profile one. He once told me that he had been excluded from meetings held in his own house, because of suspicions that his views might be tainted by the fact that he had an Albion season ticket in his wallet.

Tim Cutress has never used his position at Forfars to promote the campaign against the stadium. He recognises that most of the staff support the stadium being built at Falmer. In many respects, Forfars is an Albion-friendly company - doing things like producing blue and white striped gingerbread men on appropriate occasions.

As the ODPM's decision to reject Collyer's main recommendation proves, we have won the arguments over the NIMBYs - without bringing Forfars into the game. To do so now would be an unnecessary distraction and might even risk losing the goodwill of the company's staff and customers who would be baffled as to what was going on.

We only have one more issue to deal with - the unsuitability of alternative sites far from Falmer. We can best win that argument by concentrating on the simple fact that none of them are suitable.

I respect your opinion Lord B and will adhere to your advice. It must be a difficult situation for him as he is a genuine supporter. I can't imagine they will be producing any 'Falmer Buns' though!

Blimey, he must be really old then.

Let's not boycott Forfars just because he's doing what he thinks is right for the area. It's not the same as Fartcher & Focus. He did what he did to line his pockets (allegedly).

Fair enough Lord B.

But jesus christ, his dragon of a missus BANS her husband from his own house!!! when she has her oddball gang of the anti-Falmer freakshow coming round? (I must admit to having a mental image of her which suggests she looks like she enjoys Forfars products with gusto). I'm actually starting to feel quite sorry for the bloke.

Not so low profile to prevent him giving evidence against the Albion at last years enquiry?! Whilst it's apparent Mrs Cutress Wears the trousers, I find it hard to get inside the head of anyone who can be profess to be a long time Albion fan and in the same breath, siding with a group of bigoted bumpkins who would happily see the Albion die?

If they ever came round to our house, I'd be quite happy if Roz chucked me out until they'd left.

Now THAT is one f**ked up relationship!!
