In Martin Perry's blog in early October, he mentioned that the Falmer finances would be tied up in the next few weeks. We have not heard anything since.

There are still major concerns amongst supporters as to where the money is coming from. My own experience in the past few weeks of raising finance for businesses has shown that the banking world has changed dramatically since Martin's comment in October, and obtaining finance for large scale projects is much much harder, if not impossible. Deals that would have gone through on a nod three months ago are now being stalled or turned down.

I notice from the timeline in todays programme that no real costly work on the Falmer site is starting until April, and therefore wonder if the club has taken the wise view that seeking finance in the current climate is difficult and that actually so far they have only agreed part of the finance package?

In which case is the continuation of the project reliant on the banking situation easing, or is the finance already in place in which case there is no need for concern.

I know that much of this is commercially sensitive until agreed, but I think that supporters would feel much more assured if we knew that this was progressing in line with Martin's comments in early October.

I don't have any concerns and acording to my learned friend "Superphil" it appears we have a budget fr the transfer window as well.

Sorry meant to post this on "Ask the club" which I have now done. Don't want to start another binfest on here but would like some reassurance from the club.

Surely though the answers you seek have already been stated as commercially sensitive.

Only commercially sensitive if they haven't been tied up yet.

If they have, that's all I (and I guess other fans) want to hear. Just a short "all banking finance is now in place" will do and doesn't give away any commercially sensitive information whatsoever.

However if the answer is bank finance is not yet in place, we can can carry on worrying :(

But my take is I thought a person was putting in a very large sum of money so the club naturally will not reveal who this is.

That doesn't stop them announcng that funds are in plac though does it? They have openly said that they are using PWC to negotiate on the banking front. All I want to know is whether this process has concluded or not. I accept that amounts, margins etc are commercially sensitive and it wouldn't be right to disclose these, particularly if as I understand an individual is investing a large proportion of the cost.

... apart from the 45 minutes that listeners to The Albion Roar heard from him earlier today.

I have no idea what size audience that show has, but my guess is that it's not going to be large. I may be completely wrong of course.

Anyway - given Martin's blog exists - wouldn't it make more sense for him to provide an update via that medium? Or are we all supposed to play "guess which media Martin will crop up on today"?

Is this show thing available to download etc via the internet? Like a podcast? Or actually a podcast?

It isn't £70 million and because of the educational space, Naming rights, Catering franchise etc it will not be anywhere near that figure.
The Naming Rights thing bothers me slightly. I would imagine that the bottom has fallen out of that market at the moment and that the Club might be best advised to wait until the economy has turned the corner, rather than sign the sort of sub-standard deal that might be the best that is on offer at the moment.

Among the key things that MP said on The Albion Roar were:-
(1) the Buckingham Group have been looking very carefully at the financial backing that lies behind the stadium project and that they won't sign up to the contract if the money isn't there; and
(2) the Buckingham Group ARE going to sign the contract documentation in the next few days.

Agreed. If neither West Brom nor West Ham can tie up deals for front-of-shirt sponsors to grace the screens of football fans worldwide, and I concede I make the assumption that they are trying, then the naming rights for the stadium of a Division 3 football club is not likely to be a golden ticket right now.

Thanks LB. Can't seem to get yesterdays on the listen again yet.

Amex at the moment will tell the club to jog on re the naming rights

As will Legal and General.

The way things are at the moment it might well be the Cash Converters / Pay Day Loan Stadium.

Much as we'd all like to be reassured, I think it's pretty obvious that the complete financial package is not yet in place as otherwise the club would have announced it. I suspect that you have hit the nail on the head in your supposition that they are hoping to conclude a deal closer to April next year. The worry is that, if anything, things may well be looking worse at that stage.

If the Buckingham Group start work on the 1st of December, then I will be assured that the money has been sorted. We don't need it up front, just as the bills come in.
