The battle's only just begun, but we have won the war.
Our club, though torn asunder, will survive.
And I salute each one of you who stood up and said NO!
And fought to keep the Albion alive.
And one day, when our new home's built, and we are storming back
A bunch of happy fans without a care
We'll look back on our darkest hour and raise our glasses high
and say with satisfaction: we were there.

.

Like and agree with the sentiment but not sure that makes sense. How can you have won the war when the battle has only just begun???

This is the day we've been waiting for so many long years

'ave iiiiiiit!

That's what I was thinking....a massive day for this club. Monumental in fact.

Let's start the fundraising....I want a brick

Now it feels real. Its actually GOING to happen.

DK and MP should get the keys to the city for this. Lesser men would have given up and walked away long ago, but they've stuck at it through the most ridiculously protracted planning application in history and got us all the result we so desperately wanted.

I'm proud to have stood with those men on the terraces.

Had a Southampton fan in the shop at about 2pm today. He was overjoyed on our behalf, and was well looking forward to coming to Falmer. He wants Brighton to return the compliment Southampton had paid us - playing each other at the inauguration of a ground.

Working on Planet Football as I do, a lot of people supporting other clubs - including Palace - have been in and, when they ask about whom I support, immediately ask 'what's happening with the stadium?' Their first reaction is to express disgust at how this has taken so long, while at the same time giving total support for the stadium. It's kind of weird yet highly satisfying the effect that this good news has on fans of other clubs, together the warm glow of goodwill coming from them.

This fella was so overjoyed for us, in fact, that he bought a Southampton shirt from me.

From the Official Site:

"It looks like we will be able to start moving the project forward very soon, start work on securing the financing, completing the legal agreements, and ultimately beginning work on the site towards the end of next year."

It's going to take until 'towards the end of next year' before work starts??????:cry::cry::cry:
