Given that the House of Commons rises next Thursday, I think it is very likely that the announcement will be made next week. You may have noticed that there's been a raft of announcements in the last few days: they're trying to clear up business before the summer recess. The ODPM has been especially busy. Contrary to other posts on NSC, I believe the announcement will be made whilst the Commons are sitting. This announcement is very political, with three marginal seats possibly dependent on the outcome, and Prescott wouldn't want to be seen to be either running away from the decision or failing to bask in the glory of it.
One final thing: if it is a hairline decision - last night's by-election results will have helped - Prescott is savvy enough to realise this Government will need all the help they can get at the next election - and this is a big issue in Brighton.

For the umpteenth time ...

A planning decision is not delivered to parliament. It is delivered to the applicant. The timing of the parliamentary recess is entirely irrelevant.

Planning decisions are dealt with administerally by civil servants and are not referred back to parliament. But as previosuly posted the PR gurus do like to put out "good news" on Tuesdays or Wednesday and bury bad news on Fridays or the day before a public holiday ... depends how you view this decision, especially in the light of the Early Day Motion and the likely political backlash!

This isn't rumour or anything like that.

just caught the end of the local Meridian News and a report on Falmer.
All I caught was "the club and local Falmer residents wait to hear the decision".

No idea what the whole article was driving at and I know that Meridian are not exactly reliable but as they don't normally bother with us why was this report on.

Most politicians disappear during the recess. That was they basis of what I was saying. I am very aware of how the system works -and I still believe that the decision will be delivered next week, when Prescott is around to answer for it. It's called politics.

But it will be Keith Hill MP put in the firing line I am sure, as it's his portfolio.

I am sure that which ever way the decision goes Two Jags will be sunning himself in Scunthorope at the time!

Put it like this: if it goes our way, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Prescott pay a visit to Brighton either soon, or more likely during the election campaign, to bask in the glory.

Questions to the Deputy Prime Minister are scheduled for next Wednesday. MPs have to give advance notice of their questions. As of today, no questions about the stadium have been asked.

Questions are available here

I wouldn't bother checking teletext if I were you. Teletext has been known to post actual rubbish and they'll probably be one of the last mediums to report the next - you obviously have a computer and an internet connection, I'd use that !

I don't believe that an announcement will be made anytime soon, the ODPM are stinging this out for all it's worth

I seem to remember someone saying that in a letter they got from the ODPM that the decision would be made prior to the parliamentary recess. Putting all the other titbits of possibly correct info together, if I were a betting man I would put some money on a decision being announced next week. If the answer is "No" then it will probably be announced late on Thursday. If "Yes", more likely to be earlier in the week. So, as the week slips by we can become more and more tense.......

Can someone please tell me

When the Public enquiry finsihed

How long has ODPM had to make a decision

I hope you're not inferring that the civil servants working on this are at all inefficient? The fact that Gordon Brown has just announced that we can do without over 100,000 civil servants must be completely co-incidental....
