I read in The Leader that Andrew Hawes withdrew from commentating on the match because he is a Swindon Town fan and would not be able to be impartial. Top man.

Hove born and bred and myself hereby accept the apologies of all the passionless, emotionless, cold-fish, 'not true' Albion fans who disgracefully and incorrectly said that it 'didn't matter' that a carrot-crunching yokel would be commentating on our radio station.

Like Richard Lindfied I will happily welcome him back IF we don't screw up the second leg.

I'd have been happy with him commentating. Jonathan Pearce (him of the Palace supporting family living in our fair city) is a Bristol City fan but commentated on their game last night.

He can't be the most active Swindon fan anyway, as he works on Saturday afternoons. As I understand it.

On what medium though? National TV - fair enough. Local radio should be one-eyed and biased: "As fair as it ought to be" as the slogan went.

Anyway we had the argument on hove b&b's original thread. I just wanted to point out that we were right and everyone else was wrong.
