I see on ceefax that Barry Hayles has been released by fulham.
not sure what his wages would be like but he could certainly do a job alongside Leon. He was still scoring goals in the prem last season when given the chance, and certainly is the kind of striker that can create something rather than just rely on a knock down.
What do you think? Should we go for another ex Bristol rovers man...the last one didn't do so badly!

I spotted that too and my immediate thought was that it would be an amazing signing for Brighton, a pacy energetic forward with plenty of skill, an excellent foil for Leon. A strike force of Hayles and Knight with a little more inventiveness from midfield could produce enough goals to keep us up this time.

If we could afford his wages then I would say sign him, I fear however that the competition might be a bit stiff and he may well be another player to turn down the Albion and head for the Madstad.

Jeez, the number of players that people on this board think are headed for Reading. If Coppell signs as many people as we think he will. he'd have about four people for every position.

Gwylan, I was trying to be ironic, but well spotted anyway as at this rate according to NSC Reading will end up as the Chelsea of the Coca-Cola League or whatever it is going to be called next season.

Remember, you read it on NSC first.

We don;t need a striker (well we do but it's not really a priority)

With regard to Hayles, not only are Leeds interested, but so are Charlton and Palace.

We have no chance competing with Prem clubs.

Leeds are also chasing McPhee (The Port Vale one), but he is keen to go to a Portuguese club.
Bill Bell, chairman of Port Vale really is a clown. Here is a side that finished one off the play off places and has improved year on year for 3 years, and now he's breaking the team up. Have Vale built that Lorne Street stand yet? Probably not, knowing Vale. :nono:
