Has any club won a major European trophy having never won a major domestic honour?

Asking for a friend.




Obviously this has nothing to do with us being in Europe because we won the charity shield once.

Villarreal have. The only domestic honour they have in Spain is winning their 3rd division in 1969-70. They won the Europa League in 2020-21, they also won the Intertoto Cup in 2003 and 2004.
