The "donkey" has finally been dropped - Heskey left out (finally).

England's 23-man squad to face Austria and Poland:
Goalkeepers: James (Man City), Robinson (Tottenham), Green (Norwich).
Defenders: G Neville (Man Utd), A Cole (Arsenal), Bridge (Chelsea), Terry (Chelsea), King (Tottenham), Carragher (Liverpool), Upson (Birmingham).
Midfielders: Beckham (Real Madrid), Lampard (Chelsea), Gerrard (Liverpool), Dyer (Newcastle), Hargreaves (Bayern Munich), Butt (Newcastle), Wright-Phillips (Man City), J Cole (Chelsea), Jenas (Newcastle).
Strikers: Owen (Real Madrid), Vassell (Aston Villa), Defoe (Tottenham), Smith (Man Utd).

Hurrah! Sven has seen the light, I was hoping this would be an excuse to drop him, he only got in because he had European experience and was at a "big" club

I´d rather have W-P than Scholes anyway - no disrespect to the Ginger One, but for the last two tournaments, we´ve had lots of players who can slow it down and play killer passes, but no-one to take people on and run with the ball

Not a bad idea as well - he is definitely proving he can score more goals with the right providers

Defoe is more on fire than Smith - 3 in 4 for Spurs, carrying on from last season, has to be in. Smith and Defoe could work, but would Sven drop Owen?
