England Climb Rankings After Croatia Win

England have moved up two places to eighth and overtaken Germany in the latest FIFA rankings on the back of their 3-1 friendly win over Croatia.

Germany have dropped to 10th after losing 1-0 at home to Italy last weekend.

However, Sven-Goran Eriksson's side have the United States breathing down their neck just two points behind them.

England's rivals for Euro 2004 qualification, Turkey, are seventh while Brazil remain top with France a close second and Spain third.

i went on FIFA's site once and viewed the entire rankings, there are actually teams worse than san marino, and the lowest ranked country in the world is monserrat
i'm surprised they can play, after that volcano and everything

bigc I agree the rankins sucks, they should be based on Competitive matches only for a start - ranking because of a friendly? ridiculous!

Fifa rankings dont mean shit. We are awful most of the time yet by playing crap teams like Australia in friendlies (ooops) we have artificially high placings. Look at my other country Spain, always 3rd and never win a sausage.

I don't trust any tables released today, I saw a stupid one saying Palace were top of Div 1, and a mocked up one that claimed Pompey were top of the Premier League. Must be all these kids playing school holiday pranks!

Rankings are worthless, didn't Germany become a seeded team in the last World Cup because they were in the top 10 even though they had to qualify through the play offs?
