I reckon it's a decent bet. It PROBABLY won't happen, but I think we are seriously underestimating Paraguay, and Sweden might be useful still.
I tend to agree. We could easily end up failing to qualify by drawing these two games and going out on goal difference. But as you say, it's far more likely that we'll finish in the top two.

Yep FB, largely agree with that assessment. Paraguay could easily finish in the top two. T&T will be the whipping boys comparable with Saudi. However, I take issue with what you say about our hyped players. How many teams at the WC would Lampard fail to get into? Terry & Ferdinand provoke a lot of debate but they'll do for me.

In the end, the only team who are certs to get out of their group is Brazil - and they have a tough group!

Kev, quite frankly, that's an idiotic response. Do you think the other teams in our group will just roll over and let us win because we are ENGLAND? Or, do you trust our manager and team enough to be 100% at their best in a match against Trinidad?

Well they won't roll-over and let us win, but I think we'll progress through our group, I'm not saying with ease but it will be hard.

I also think we suffer from over-confidence and arrogance, which is why if some of the group stage opposition get up our noses, we may not have the will to see them off.
There is absolutely NO WAY the players will be arrogant and overconfident towards ANY of our opponents. NO WAY. If we are going to go out, it will be because we can't break them down effectively IMO.

2) We have hyped a number of our players into "world class" acts

John Terry? Why do you not consider him world class Tom?

Also, as I was discussing earlier - we are alright at holding teams and maybe catching a goal on the break from the likes of Cole and Owen, or from a set piece. However, we really can't 'kill' weak teams - i think the last 'thrashing' of anyone in a competetive match was against Luxembourg about 7 years ago! (awaits being corrected)
