BRIGHTON
From BBC: Dundee have made an offer to sign young Brighton defender Adam El-Abd on loan.
But Seagulls boss Mark McGhee is unlikely to agree to any deal as the 20-year-old is needed as cover for Saturday's game with Nottingham Forest.

"I'm reluctant because he is next in line," McGhee said. "At the moment he is like our 16th outfield player.

"Unless I get players fit I cannot afford to loan him out. It's a shame because I'd like him to get games," he told the Evening Argus.

What a shock, glad it was rejected tho!!

i think sending him out could've been beneficial, i doubt he'll be playing for us much and gettting some premiership experiance(ok its scotland) could've done him the world of good

McGhee's not daft.

He KNOWS who the genuine total quality prospects are.

That's Jakey Robinson & Adam El-Abd.

Anybody's daft enough to offer anything in six figures for Harding then, sure, do the deal. Ditto Leon Knight. The REAL smart guys nicked our two most influential players in the shop window in the space of a month. And the amount paid, and their subsequent effect on the teams they signed for, shows there's still some smart scouts about. Basically anybody who watches football and is not blinded by the stripes.

I still subscribe to the conspiracy theory that Mark McGhee is looking after No. 1. He knows damn well that Jakey Robinson & Adam El-Abd are the GENUINE article. So he's tucking them away. Out of sight of other clubs. Til MMcG moves on. And puts in an offer for both within weeks of starting his new job. At a knockdown price which the Albion will be unable to refuse. Fair do's to the bloke if that does happen.

Would be genuinely interested to know the info about how he came about signing Robbie Keane. Was RK tucked away out of sight of scouts from other clubs for a while? Made to play in the reserves somewhere and then signed at a knockdown price?

I dont see why McGhee didnt loan him out as he is not really needed at the moment and it could give him some experience

As Watto is injured, El-Abd is needed on the bench.

The key word there is AT THE MOMENT. Imagine if virgo or hinsh get injured on Saturday, we are then without the next in line to come in and cover. Then there is not really anyone else, who could be expected to fill the roll for a month.

I think you've also got to look at the age of the kid. He's only young & sending him to Dundee - miles away from home - in a league full of cloggers with zero talent will do nothing for his game.

Loan him to an English team in League One, not some tinpot Scottish team

McGhee said in the Argus that El Abd is the 16th outfield player on his list, and as such should be on the bench on Saturday. In another article he said that the club had only 17 players. I just wonder how Jake, Albert and Mr Molango feel if they read this.

Good move boss.

A few weeks in the festering quagmire of eternal gloom that is Scottish football could have spelt doom for Adam's promising career.

Don't forget, history has shown plenty of players who were by far too shit for even the Third Division Albion side, flourishing in the pub-team atmosphere of the SPL and lower.

Dirk Lehmann, Paul Armstrong, Dave Cameron etc

Sorry Mark McGhee, but Scottish football is an embarrassment.
