Thoughts? I think he's ready for it.

There was a point in the Saints game where he went into a 50-50 ("SMASH 'IM") and rather than crunching in like back in the day he managed a skilful flick to knock it sideways to a team mate. He's come such a LONG way as a footballer.

Him playiung in the centre of defenmce was the inspiuration behind our win on Monday. The defence looked so much better with a man who gets distance on his clearing headers for the first time this season.

I've got a terrible feeling he'll make his mate Tarricco captain.

It's a possibility, and it's who my first thought was.

But on reflection, I would suspect it may well be Matt Sparrow.

As much as he was a bozo for doing it I don't think it's right to strip GG of the captaincy and I've no reason to believe Gus will. Give him a warning but any more would be well over the top imo

Its always been Vicente's dream to play against a conference side in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. The captain's armband will be the cherry on the icing on his cake.

it may have escaped attention that Gus isnt one of these normal foreign managers that thinks the captaincy just goes to the oldest/experienced player, he understands it matters and can make a real difference on the pitch.

i've long thought El-Abd as a potential captain of Brighton, probably would be if Greer hadnt come. for a long time his detractors ignored how he's fitted in to fill holes willingly and faults came after covering for others (thinking back a season or two here).

Without putting words in the OP's mouth, he may just mean for the next three games.

Anyhow - it will be Calderon, as soon as he's back, just as it was last year when GG was out.

Hasn't El Abd been captain in the past? Attitude, position and seniority would suggest he would be likely in the absence of Calderon and Taricco. Caldy had it last year in greers absence so would probably be the likely deputy, but might not be risked for the wrexham game. Taricco would have the experience, and seniority (as assistant manager, surely he has seniority over the restof the team, and it's one thing for your senior to follow you as captain when he joins you in that position, but would it work to have someone else be given the captaincy over him?), but his if he could be fit for saturday, would it be worth pushing it and risking further injury for an fa cup game against wrexham?

Somewhere in between...I meant for the next 3 games, and see how it goes. Probably give back to Greer after but I'd want Greer to know that El Abd is absolutely on his heels as captain-in-line.

El Abd should be captain of the local Am Drams team.

Bit rich from a Saints fan, you clearly don't remember the game at St. Mary's. Your team were embarrassingly laughable, falling to the ground constantly, looking for anything.

I reckon the OP is right and it will be el Abd. He has always been a good talker and so many other aspects of his game have improved that he not only deserves it but will do it well. Had he been fit it would have been Calderon who filled in last season if I remember right?

NO. Should go to someone who will play must games in case he is needed to do it again, El Abd is not good enough to be in the side when everyone is fit dunk and Greer are much better at cb as look better on ball and pass the ball better El Abd after watching him at the away games of christmas looked a week link at right back was beaten all the time and never got forward something a lot of fans around me all said, I think lim bridcutt should get it been are best player of 2011 as voted by fans and players also was captain of the Chelsea res so at some point they must have regarded him as I good or future captain?
