Has anyone been to this theme park in Holland ?

If so any information would be handy and useful to know, planning to go later on this year.

We're planning to go there too this year. Looks pretty good. Here's their website. Let the home page load then scroll down to the bottom and click the Union flag to translate into English.

Recommended by a work friend I've been looking at the web site as well Pasty - does look good.

We are going to Amsterdam and it's around one and half hours from there by train.

I went to one over there about 12 years ago, I thought it might have been d'Efteling but having looked at the website I am pretty sure it wasn't but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called, either that or they have completely rebuilt it. There is also another theme park near Cologne in Germany, called Phantasialand, haven't been there myself but have heard that it is worth a visit.

Just remembered, the one I went to was called Bobbejaanland, think it may have been near Antwerp, that is what confused me as they can't be that far apart. We went there with a largish group of kids, ranging from 6-16 and they were pretty well entertained all day.

I saw Phantasialand but it's too far for a day trip.

I am now racking my brains to come up with other ideas of places for you to visit, I have spent over 6 years in the Netherlands in two stretches, first 89-92 and then 2000 till October last year.

I took the family there about 10 years ago.

Overnight on ferry (had a cabin). Drove straight to the park (it's near Eindhoven I think).

We had a great day out.

It's based around goblins, elves and suchlike.

There are some good rides as well. including an old style wooden roller coaster.

The rubbish bins talk to you! "Papirien hier! -or something similar. My dutch is poor but you won't need to speak the lingo.

Hope the weather is good for you, like it was for us. We went early Septmeber.

Beachy and Pasty I heartily recommend it.
:)

Have you ever been to the Weald and Downland museum at Singleton, the Dutch have their own version just outside Arnehem, which is also a good place to visit.

Yes I have - we only have two full days in Amsterdam so what would the kids like ?

We also might get the bonus of a Champions League game at the Ajax ground if we are lucky.

Would definitely recommend going to a game at the Ajax Arena, went a couple of seasons back for the Amsterdam tournament, saw Ajax, Valencia, Liverpool and AC Milan, four games over two evenings. It is an amazing stadium, better than the Mil Stad by some way, strange atmosphere though as you had a mixture of genuine fans from the clubs mixed in with total neutrals like myself. Liverpool had Jari Litmanen playing for them, he is an absolute God in Amsterdam, the reaction from the home support when he came on as a sub made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, bloody amazing.

Think your kids would like the Museum at Arnehem, but it was a long time ago that I went there, so I would check up what it offered before going firm on a trip there. As I remember it was about Dutch life, with your usual farm buildings, animals, etc etc.

What I had forgotten, until just now, was that there were a group of Albion fans at the second night of games, resplendant in the stripes. I went with a work colleague to the games and we had been chatting with the people around us before the first game kicked off, they were Dutch and wanted to know what teams we followed in England, sods law the bloke I was with was a plastic Manc. I had to explain that I followed a team from the lower leagues, they had heard of Brighton but didn't know we had a world class football team.

Imagine my pleasure on spotting the other Albion fans at being able to turn round and say that I followed the same team as those wearing the stripes just a few rows away, proud or what!!!

Beach Hut I went there in 2000 when over there for Euro 2000. Like all theme park had to stand a wait to get on rides but the further you go into the park the waiting for rides get shorter. Remember the q for the roller coaster was zero so was able to get of run around to the enterance and get back on. The Park is just north of Tilberg and a bus runs from near the train station. (Make sure you get the local bus because the private bus costs about four times as much). If you are staying in Amsterdam will take about two hours to get to Tilberg by train. Have Fun.

yes ive been there about 14 years ago, ferry then train,
wasnt too bad but no different to Chessington.
remember you had to pay to use the toilets in there!!!!
oh, and they love mayo on all their food!!!

it was a trauma getting the train from the ferry, i seem to remember it involved buses as well.

Bikes everywhere, the bike park is bigger than the carpark!!!
