DVDs to iTunes

I am trying to rip some of my DVDs on to iTunes so that thet can be watched on an iPod. Apparently I need to download some conversion software. Any suggestions for software that is safe and easy for a person with limited IT knowledge to use. Grateful for any suggestions.

Depends if you have a pc or a mac. I use Handbrake for the mac it's easy and free.

Handbrake is also available for windows
