Going on a short trip with work to France, i was wondering wether or not to fill my case with my legal allowance, of fags and backy.

Anyone know wether its worthwile?

It’s well worth bringing back a few kilos of Golden Virginia or similar.

If you buy in bulk you can get 50grams for under £3. They sell for about £12 quid here.

Is the right answer.Done the trip about 15 times.Don't buy backy in France either as it's only 40g instead of 50g

I would be very suprised if you can buy it for that price in France or even Belgium as it is usually about £4.25 for 50gm in Belgium and the same for 40gm in France.

I go over there quite often to get tobacco for my 3 boys when the ferry companies have a cheap deal and if the price you quote is correct I would love to know where.

You can get 200 snouts for around £20 from Greece or Cyprus.France is about £40.I've still got loads of packets left until the summer.Saved an absolute fortune.I'm a light smoker though.

Always found rolling baccy disgusting.

Provided they are for your own consumption you can bring in what amount you like.

If you smoke 50gm of Golden Virginia a day and can prove that ypou go to Belgium to buy it once a year you can theoretically bring in 365 pouches. It is when you buy 50 Golden 50 Old Holborn 1000 B & H and 1000 Marlbrough that you have problems saying they are for you. You are not permitted to bring them in as presents.

When I go my boys all smoke the same tobacco and that is all I get, so it looks ok for me to bring it in.

I always get my full allowance in Greece in the summer - much cheaper than the UK. France was "persuaded" to put up prices a few years ago because all the Brits used to go over and buy and the price of fags there went up to only about 50p under our prices. Belgium is much cheaper and Germany is cheap too - about 4.5 euros for 20

I recently spnt a weekend in Germany where you can smoke in some of the bars - in one of which was a fag machine with the legend "Whilst we still can" emblazoned across it in German

i was referring to porkdog and sheebo replies (if you get some send a pm) not that i give a flying f*** , i always smoked duty free baccy but managed to quit almost 2 yrs ago yippee !!
