Albion boss Gus Poyet has urged Lewis Dunk to grab his Championship chance against Peterborough at The Amex tonight.
Dunk is in line for his first league appearance of the season at centre half in place of the injured Adam El-Abd.
The 20-year-old has not featured since the Seagulls’ opening Capital One Cup defeat at Swindon nearly three months ago.
El-Abd, pictured, has been in dominant form alongside skipper Gordon Greer but the Egypt international suffered a minor hamstring injury in Friday night’s 2-2 home draw against Leeds United.
Poyet told The Argus: “He’s not bad. It’s a matter of probably not taking a risk. I would say it should be maybe maximum a week. It’s not like a tear, where he is going to be out for three weeks.
“Dunky has been waiting, desperate. I’ve said a few times there could be a few reasons for somebody not to play. The players normally forget about one of the main reasons and that is the one who is playing is doing well.
“Now, if he goes in, he has got a chance, depending on how he does and the result.”
