Dowie verses Curbishley

BBC Radio have interviewed both managers about their aspirations for this season and the future.
Dowie has stated that "we have to be realistic about our chances and don't expect to pick up many points over the season from the top 5 clubs. If we can keep the other games tight and pick up draws wherever we can, nick an odd win here or there against the likes of W.B.A. or Norwich, then who knows we might just stay up this season. Even if we managed to finish 18th or 19th then in most peoples eyes this would be seen as an achievement, but there is no way we are the worst team in the premiership. In the future we hope to own our own stadium and regain our identity"
Curbishley stated that "with the extra quality that we have brought into the club this season, I expect us to be pushing Arsenal all the way for the title. Chelsea and Manchester United are there to be shot at and we beleive that we have a squad capable of seeing out the season better that those two, so at least second, but you never know, we'll just push on and hope that our points tally at the end of the season is enought to give us our first Premiership title. That will be evidence to all that we are still progressing as a club here at The Valley. Next year, we hope to add more quality again in anticipation of a big push for The Champions League, we have to keep setting our targets higher each year, whilst remaining realistic at the same time"
The reporter then asks Curbs if he is being a tad over optimistic, to which Curbs repiles "Well Dowie started it ! "
