Can't see another thread on this so here goes:

Dowie sacked as Coventry manager

Dowie has failed to turn around the club's faltering season
Iain Dowie has been sacked as manager by Championship club Coventry.
The Sky Blues are currently hovering four points above the relegation zone and the move comes on the back of a 1-0 loss to fellow strugglers Preston.

Dowie's assistant Tim Flowers and Bob Dowie, who was part of the backroom team, have also left the club.

Frankie Bunn and John Harbin have taken charge of the team ahead of the game against Cardiff on Tuesday and the FA Cup tie against West Brom on Saturday.

Coventry have lost five of their last six league games and, despite reaching the fifth round of the FA Cup, that has not been enough to save Dowie's job.

The club confirmed the news in a brief statement on their website and said they would not be "making any further comment at this time".

Dowie took over at the Ricoh Arena last February and started this season in promising fashion.

His side beat Manchester United 2-0 in the Carling Cup and appeared set to challenge for a play-off place.

But their league form dipped, although they did knock Blackburn out of the FA Cup in January.

More to follow.

Coventry are becoming the Newcastle of the championship. They think they are bigger than they are. Only a few months ago Dowie was hailed as a god here. Would love them to get relegated

Noooooo! Wilkins is our man. He will be one of our best managers. I do not want someone who has a chip on his sholder, and belives he is better than he is.

Is Dowie another Keegan? I think so.

I've had a pony on Chris Coleman getting the job.

Too far south, after all he left Palace to be closer to his northen based family and moved all the way to Charlton........knob

Proof that Dowie is dyslexic, he thought that he was agreeing to manage Chorlton.

Well he had a year and Coventry are still shit.

Its still a shit hole to live in so he's no doubt best off out of it.

Just another example of bad management for me. Coventry were close to administration recently weren't they? It feels like a manager lasting a whole season is an exception these days. So a cash-strapped club now has to fork out for a pay off.

Hate Coventry, would of been so happy to see them go into administration as that would have practically relegated them, looks like they are doing it anyway :)
