There are a lot of threads on here and a lot of the same will be said elswhere
that the current group of England players bar 1 or two are not up to it.

We all say they are overrated, overpaid and lead into a false sense of superiority by the way the press and sky build them up, even fans of clubs like Chelsea and Man utd, ect have to stand up and agree that there so called best English players have let down the masses in this tournament, and the majority of who did not even qualify for euro 2008.

Perhaps for a while under Capello it looked as thou we had turned a corner but in reality was our qualifying group any real way to judge ?

I said after the dissapointment of Euro 2008 a squad of the best English Championship players would do better, with less media scrunity and who's ex girlfriends they have been shagging, more heart and more determination to prove a point.

We all know wages are no way to gauge talent, is John Terry realy 100 grand a week better than any overage leaugue player, how much better are these so called best of the best ?

well done to the Germans today, regardless of the disallowed goal the palyed quick deciive counter attacking football and we could not cope, countless time we weer cut wide open.

Maybe this is the direction we need to take, dump the whole entire squad and start to look at it in a whole new way.

who's got the bottle to dump the celebrities and find us a hardcore team of footballers ?

The 11 men that stand out on the pitch to face the world, the best 11 representing every single league, non league, sunday park and 5 a side player in the country and the millions who stand behinfd them....

Some decent points, but, it's all money led and sponsors want 'names' representing them. John Terry will sell more shirts that Tommy Elphick for example. Wayne Rooney more than Glen Murray etc etc

It's not right, but sponsors call the shots, sadly.

The problem is these 11 new players will become celebs because they are playing for England it's the culture I'm afraid

First of all the media and fans need to realise that we are an average side as everyone in the world has come up to our level.

Once we accept that pulling on an England shirt does not make you world class we may be able to go forward

Oh and I blame the glorification of Beckham who whilst being able to cross a ball was an average player and...

Not enough home players in the Prem and....

Too high wages making players think they are better than they are

Problem is that pride, passion and endeavour without top level talent will lead to even greater humiliation than today.

What happened today was not just about lack of care and passion but also about not being as good as they think they are. Perhaps Ashley cole is top level standard but who else?

Germany aren't that great and didn't play very well ; we were just bloody awfull, as we have been for all wc matches.

We need to have at least 6 homegrown players in the starting line up of all domestic fixtures; whilst this will initially lower the standard and not help the international team in ten years time we'll have a decent quota of talented quailty players who can take us to the level we think we should be at.
