Sad news. Is that Ryan Gayler the one that was involved with managing Old Varndeanians?

Brighton. NOT KEMPTOWN!
I remember stroking the little ginger cat who was always asleep in an even smaller box on the counter, whilst waiting to be served.

The last accounts show the company paid some corporation tax so there was taxable profit from somewhere.

A company owning £2mill of property should be getting c 5% return so £100K a year. Obviously the shop wasn't profitable enough to pay a commercial rent, so I can see why the directors have reached this conclusion.

Inevitable, really.

Sad news indeed.

Does anyone remember Ginger that used to have his bed on the counter? I loved that cat - went into Dockerills every time I was in town on a Saturday morning when I was a kid to say hello to him.

In a thread commiserating the loss of an iconic shop in Brighton, there should also be a big shout out for Ginger, an iconic cat 😍

The shop isn’t closing until the end of September, from the news stories I think the company isn’t closing down. They offer sign making and locksmith services

I can't talk highly enough about the service they provide when I go in and ask dumb questions about DIY. They sell you screws, bolts and washers individually so you dont have to buy a blister pack with hundreds in. They know the answers to every question and usually have what you ask or suggest what you need. They have cut keys to every house I have owned. I remember when all of the building, down to the corner was Dockerills.
I am genuinely devasted.
