Do YOU think that we have enough in the kitty to make one or two big signings

Apparently there was ample cash to allow 3 major signings but Paul Barber has stopped it due to FFP. Instead he has invested the money equally between a pay day loan company, and animal testing laboratory, an internet service provider specialising in the distribution of child pornography and a golf club manufacturer.

Jeez, this wont help his popularity, does he not know that golf isn't very popular round here.

(for those anti-Barber sorts of limited intellect - this is a not actually true by the way)

The way I see it, the transfer fee budget (we have been told by Gus with the whole CMS/Murray saga that transfer and wages budget are very separate) should be around £5m total this season...

If you think, last season we paid out (Correct any mistakes please!):

£300k Dobbie
£??? Crofts
£2m approx. Ulloa
All others I believe were free?

BUT - what people are forgetting is that we also bid over £2m for Virgil Van Dijk - which would have been in last years budget. Therefore surely if the budgets are the same, we have around £5m to spend transfer wise? Given that we haven't spent anything on transfers yet apart from Chicksen and I wouldnt think that would be much, then that should be correct? Even if signing on fees are included, we must have paid a lot more in signing on fees last year for Koosh, Bruno, Orlandi, SD etc.

Wages wise - we have lost Vicente, Dicker, Harley, Bridge, Hammond, Painter, Agdestein - brought in Upson (on more than we paid him on loan I suspect), Agustien (Wouldn't be cheap) and Chicksen... Spanish Dave/El Abd would have had better terms also I would think as well as some players whose contracts were automatically extended would potentially have increases. So, I wouldn't think we have a lot of wage budget to play with, but a fair amount...

Not for me. When Buckley is injured or if we decide to play a right sided midfielder instead of a winger, S-Dave will be on the right. He can fill the central position (as can Orlandi) but I think we need more cover. Also, I've not seen enough from JFC to suggest he can perform this role week in/week out in a Championship leading side.

Fair point - we may be one short, depending on the progress of JFC and potentially March as a right-sided option, cutting in on to his left foot.

Don't think we need too much more. Fullback cover is the most urgent need and given Hoskins injury one more forward would not go amiss. The midfield looks fine just as it is.

We have a good First 19 which is woefully missing a left back.

2nd priority is a striker.

I'd take one more in midfield as well to make up the 22 I think we need.

I suspect 1 or 2 of these will be loans.

I would think that with the limit on premier squads and FFP kicking in at championship level, there will be some excellent last minute value around. Although it may be stressful for us, I don't think we should be looking to push for early signings.

We need one replacement for Dicker/Vicente/Harley. An attacking central midfield playmaker who can get 10 goals a season, make stuff happen, take set pieces and become the creative flair heartbeat of the team. Probably needs to be Spanish too. Add to that a LB and loan to cover Hoskins/CMS and we'll be done.

I thought KA was that man?

Liam has been poor in the friendlies and apparently had one of his worst games yesterday so perhaps he doesnt fall in with OG way of playing so we may see him go to fund 1 or more new arrivals. Based on his form last season I would be disappointed but based on his form so far this season in the friendlies I wouldnt.

Has anyone got that tweet Naylor made a few weeks back about what we should expect to see this season?

I know he isn't everyones favourite but he seems to have a ear at the club

He's coming back from an enormous lay-off (by his standards). It'll be nothing to do with Oscar

I accept that but wonder if as Spurs are going o do with Bale sell him and use the money to buy 3 or 4 players perhaps we are thinking on the same lines but obviously on a smaller scale.

The most curious thing..
How rich is Bloom, and how does he finance all of his spending on BHA - given the club clearly can't afford it on its own if it is making trading losses.
