Do we have Martin Hinshelwood to thank?

for our current league position?

By blooding youth players last time round, we've finally got a squad together capable of staying up! Sure we have the old heads currie/chippy/cullip but we have pieced together an otherwise very good very young squad.

Who'd thought hinsh was actually doing us a favour. ???

It was perhaps a couple of years too early for them last time round.

It is interesting that a lot of the younger players fill many positions as believe it is the policy of the youth set up not to give players a postion until they reach reserve team level.

Hinsh and McGhee deserve equal credit

Hinsh has provided the raw materials so to speak

McGhee has given then the confidence to play to a solid shape at Championship level

The experience that the likes of Mayo, Cullip, Carpenter and Kuipers gained last time round cannot be underestimated either - McGhee has this as well - which Hinsh did not have last time around

If we are midtable by Xmas then I think Watson, Hart and Jones will all leave on free transfers; this should free up enough wages for a decent centre forward - even if only on loan

Hinshelwood blooded those players too early but had the right idea. He knew their potential and in the long run - he has been proved right.

He deserves a lot of credit along with Dean Wilkins and to a degree Dean White.
